How we calculate

We rank cards by what they'd give you on your own spending, using only what each bank publishes.

You tell us a normal month

Spending per category, and how much of it falls on weekends. Some cards only pay their bonus on Saturdays and Sundays, so this changes the result. If you move spending to a card's bonus day, such as the 28th for CIMB e Card, you can tell us how much.

It stays in your browser. We never see it, and nothing is sent to a bank.

  • In shops you mostly Some cards pay a bonus only when you tap your card or phone, and some only when you insert the card. Pick Tap or Insert card. It sets how you pay in shops. Online shopping in ringgit or foreign currency, Shopee and Lazada, streaming and games, food delivery, Grab rides, e-wallet reloads and bills (utilities, insurance, telco, JomPAY and government) stay online. Public transport counts as a shop, so Tap sends it as a tap. It starts on Tap.
  • Currency Rows for spending overseas or online in a foreign currency ask which currency you pay in, because some cards pay more on certain currencies. If yours isn't listed, pick Other foreign currency.

We read every card's published rules

For each card we record what the bank publishes on its own website, terms and Product Disclosure Sheet: earn rates, which shops count, monthly caps, minimum spend and what earns nothing. Each card on the cards list links to its official source and shows when we last checked it.

We don't use leaked rates, forum reports or anything a bank hasn't published.

We run your month through each card

Each ringgit is matched to the rate that applies to it, caps are filled in order, and minimum spends are checked for the month you enter. If a minimum isn't met, that bonus doesn't pay. The card's other rates still apply.

Example: RM800 on dining
HLB Infinite
1 Enrich mile per RM1 → 800 miles
The Platinum Card
5 points per RM1 = 4,000 points. 7,000 points move to 1,000 miles → 571 miles

Miles are counted in the airline you pick

Bank points are converted at the bank's own transfer rate to Enrich, KrisFlyer or Asia Miles. We don't put a ringgit value on a mile, because what a mile is worth depends on how you use it.

Best card for each category

"Use at most" lets you allow 1, 2 or 3 cards, or all of them when you compare more than 3. Cards you're considering are ranked with the cards you already have, and the plan marks them. With more than one card, each ringgit goes to the card that earns the most for it. Spending past a cap moves to the next best card. Minimum spends are part of the calculation, so a plan gives up a card's bonus only when that earns more overall.

What we leave out

  • Annual fees Fees are on the cards list, and they don't change the ranking. Many are waived. When you rank all cards, the "No annual fee only" filter leaves out cards that have one.
  • Welcome offers and promotions They change every few weeks and only apply once.
  • Interest We assume you pay the full balance every month.
  • Cards you can't apply for Closed and invitation-only cards are left out of the ranking of all cards, and you can't add them to the cards you're considering. If you have one, add it to the cards you already have and it's ranked with your cards.

When we're wrong

Banks change their terms from time to time. The cards list shows when we last checked each card and links to the bank's source, so you can check the latest terms before you apply.
